Like I said last time, cloud computing and generally cloud architecture is a future in my, and not only my opinion. On last RailsConf 2008 Ezra Zygmuntowicz gave his talk about Vertebra - next generation Cloud Computing Platform built with Erlang/Ruby and centered around Ejabberd and XMPP. Very cool stuff, here is a PDF of the slides from presentation: Vertebra.pdf. Theory -  “Vertebra can be used for automating the cloud as well as for distributed real time application development. The whole idea of Vertebra is to democratize the cloud, abstracting the cloud interface API’s and allowing folks to utilize multiple cloud providers based on a number of cost/benefit factors. It also has large potential for enterprise integration projects.” What is more Ezra said that he’s got approval to release all of Vertebra as open source with a GPL license, of course they will also offer paid support for it as well as hosted Jabber/Erlang infrastructure as a service. Appcelerator to otwarta platforma (na licencji GPL 3) do tworzenia zintegrowanych aplikacji RIA + SOA. Jest to połączenia możliwości jakie niosą ze sobą aplikacje RIA oraz SOA (Service Oriented Architecture). Wraz jednak z pojawieniem się Google App Engine twórcy postanowili wykorzystać udostępnioną przez Google infrastrukturę. Appcelerator to narzędzie, którego architektura zorientowana jest na wymianę komunikatów (Message Oriented Architecture). Powoduje to znaczne przyspieszenie tworzenia aplikacji, a dzięki oddzieleniu warstwy prezentacji (client side) od warstwy logicznej (server side) możliwe jest używanie wielu języków programowania : Ruby, Java, PHP, .NET, Python i Perl. Aptana przedstawiła swój nowy produkt, Aptana Cloud.
Jest to IDE przeznaczone dla deweloperów tworzących aplikacje Ajaxowe, Facebook, mySpace etc..

Aptana Cloud wspiera architekturę chmur (cloud architecture) dostarczaną przez takie firmy jak Amazon (EC2, S3), Google (google app engine) czy Joyent. Wszystko to pokazuje, że aptana została stworzona by w przyszłości wspierać również innych operatorów, dostarczających podobne rozwiązania.

Architektura chmur to moim zdaniem przyszłość, ze względu choćby na pozycje i renomę firm w jej rozwój zaangażowanych ;). “Chmury” były także jednym z cześciej pojawiających się słów na konferencji Web 2.0 Expo, która odbyła sie ostatnimi czasy.
